About me

I am learning anew how to integrate art into my life as seamlessly as it was once was there – and even though it is not simple, I know it will be worth it. Artmaking has no boundaries, I just need to overstep the ones in my mind.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Art is not just to know yourself – and not just to know others. Art is the ultimate communication that arrives when words fail. It is history, it is power, it is a system, but also freedom. It is a revealing of the soul – of both the maker and the perceiver. Art is patterns. They could be invisible – most patterns are still hidden from us, even though we think we know everything. We don’t and no one ever will – only from afar, only from a thousand-year perspective will the pattern become visible. And still, that will only be a part of the ornament – a few mosaic pieces that form a never-ending tapestry of creation. Even though we will never see the finished result, we have to trust the pattern. Trust our hands and our gazes, with which we weave the infinite mosaic of creation.

COMPLETED ARTWORKS

girls together

50x30 cm

Oil on canvas

2025

This painting is a nostalgic exploration of being a little girl. The name is something women now say about their childhood friends: “we were girls together”, and that phrase captures sharing all the highs and lows of being a girl: not being alone when you play with dolls, when your mom makes you cry… Girls on this painting are making friendship bracelets – that’s inspired by a memory of mine. Perpetuating friendship with a thread bracelet is an intimate, beautiful bonding experience.

Collage

2025

Femininity is a multidimensional concept that many intuitively try to simplify. ‘Midsummer‘ explores the unity of women with nature, the feeling of being light and innocent. Dry flowers symbolize youth and maidenhood, hinting at the Slavic holiday ‘Kupala Night’, related to summer solstice. when flowers were woven into a maiden’s wreath to float down the river at night and predict her fate. Tradition plays a big part of being a woman, whether it is for the better or for worse.
